Community Partners of El Paso, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) organization, is a group of volunteers dedicated to meeting the daily needs of abused and neglected children and their families being serviced by Child Protective Services (CPS). Our main project, The Rainbow Room, is an emergency resource room where CPS caseworkers can obtain items such as clothing, diapers, personal hygiene items, school supplies, car seats, port-a-cribs and other necessary items to enhance the lives of these children.
The Rainbow Room is stocked strictly through donations, new in-kind and cash made by the community of El Paso, Texas
As you know abuse and neglect is a problem in today’s society. In 2015, 171 children died in Texas as a result of abuse and neglect, 4 of which occurred in El Paso. Many more cases are reported annually to CPS, over 66,700 cases were confirmed in Texas in 2015 alone, with a fair share happening right here in El Paso. Caseworkers do an incredible job dealing with these situations but because of the strict regulations that need to be followed, the basic living needs for the victims cannot be provided quickly enough. And that brings us to the Rainbow Room. Our mission is to assist the caseworkers to get the items to the children immediately, day or night.
The Rainbow Room is a store like setting, where a caseworker can go and obtain items that each child needs free of charge. When a child is removed from a home, we offer a BLUE BAG. Until the Blue Bag project children were forced to carry their belongings in trash bags where ever they went. In each Blue Bag there is a “Comfort Critter”, a Project Linus blanket, hand made by volunteers, clothing, diapers, and other items.
We also assist the children who have an open CPS case and only need items such as diapers, port-a-cribs or a car seat. All children being serviced by CPS in El Paso County, which is the only requirement to use The Rainbow Room, are welcome. In 2015, we served over 700 children.
Please help us in keeping The Rainbow Room stocked to help children who have suffered through no fault of their own.
